Thompson named as 'ambassador

Saturday, March 28, 2009

Kirsten Thompson, 12, a seventh-grade student at Hacker Middle School and the daughter of Don and Sheila Thompson, has been selected to represent the United States and Idaho as a People to People sports ambassador.

She will compete in an Olympic-format bowling event in Austria July 5-15.

In order to participate she has to raise $6,500 in donations.

She will be putting donation containers around town, will be making pet beds, publishing a cookbook, is willing to "walk your dog or pick up dog waste," and will be babysitting to earn the money.

To make a donation or for more information call 580-2106.

The People to People ambassador's program was created by President Eisnhower as a cultural exchange program designed to foster peace and understanding around the world.
