Girls second in golf action

Mountain Home hosted an SIC 4A four-team conference golf match Thursday at Desert Canyon Golf Course. The Mountain Home girls came in second, and the boys were third.

Bishop Kelly won the girls competition, shooting a 208.

Mountain Home came in second, 14 shots back with a 222, Columbia shot a 242, and Kuna did not have a complete team.

Shayla Streeter led Mountain Home, shooting a 49, good for second place, 10 shots back of Bishop Kelly's Katie Skinner, who was medalist. Alicen Wendall was third, with a 52. Shelby Stevens shot a 57, which tied her for sixth place, Melanie Bate shot a 64, and Kelsey Egusquiza came in with a 66 score.

Bishop Kelly also won the boys competition, shooting a 161, besting Columbia by eight strokes. Mountain Home was third with a 178, and Kuna came in with a 201.

Scott Weston of Columbia was medalist, shooting a 36. Steven Elliott led Mountain Home with a 39, good for third place. Tyler Bennett shot a 43, Travis Goldsby came in with a 44, Gavin Cline shot a 52, and Nick Reynolds carded a 54.

Both the Mountain Home girls and boys gold teams were at Broadmore Monday for a conference meet hosted by Columbia.

The girls will be at Spurwing Thursday for the Treasure Valley Invitational, and the boys will be at River Bend Golf Course near Wilder for the Canyon County Classic on Friday.
