Police your dogs on their walks

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Dear editor:

The beautiful world God created is sick and it is full of greedy corrupt politicians. But, I am writing about a simpler matter.

Our community, I believe, is a walking community. I see people walking with walkers and even oxygen tanks.

It is really sad when people don't take the time or care enough to get out and scrape snow and ice off their sidewalks in the winter.

What bugs me even more is the dog poop that I see everywhere. I think if a person is going to own a dog, they ought to shoulder the responsibility that comes with caring for a dog -- clean up after that dog!

I do not own a dog and it really upsets me to have to clean poop from our yard, but I do it. I suggest dog walkers take a plastic bag with them to clean up after their dog does its duty -- or don't walk the dog. As my walking partner says -- "It is ridiculous." We don't like to walk on poop-laden sidewalks or see grass dotted with ugly, stinking brown stuff.

Come on folks, let's take pride in our surroundings and keep our community clean and healthy!
