Letter to the Editor

Gun restrictions already in place

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Dear editor:

It's wingnut season again, but you don't need a shotgun, rifle and a 4-wheel drive to go hunting, just a 42 cent stamp and the First Amendment.

The wingnuts fear that President Obama and the Democratic Congress will take away their gun rights, but that may have already happened.

On Sept. 30, 1996, a Republican Congress passed and President Clinton signed the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban, which prohibits gun ownership by anyone convicted of domestic violence. On Feb. 24, 2009, the Supreme Court upheld this law, even for the police and the military.

So if you fit the wingnut profile (angry paranoid white male), play nice with your domestic partner, or your worst nightmare will come true when they come for your guns.
