  • Outstanding, and long overdue.

  • At least 10 years too late, but it's great it's finally getting done.

Now how about a light at American Legion and 14th before a student gets hit walking to/from school?!

  • Yes this is long overdue. This is the intersection where my husband Frank was killed in 2003. After that I put out a petition for the people of Mountain Home to sign to push ahead for a light. Even though it took 6 years, it is well worth the wait. I am so thankful that a light is finally put at this very dangerous intersection.

    caddygirl,

I live down on 51 and am at that intersection several times a day.... I try to never pass through without looking at the cross you placed there..

Our thoughts are with you as this stoplight is erected... Thank You

Frank was my daughters bus driver, she is now 18 years old. She spoke of him fondly when he was her bus driver and still thinks of him when she sees that cross. This tragedy has had an impact on many people in our community. I find it very sad that it has taken this long to put this light in. Thank God another family has not had to suffer the loss you have suffered because of the delay. I would be curious to know why it has taken so long to correct this. Does anybody know?

  • Amused MtnHomey,

Thank you for your kind words. I do know why it took so long. First of all because that intersection is part city on one side, state and federal on the others, the City of Mtn Home could not do anything. I inquired through the State Dept of Hwy in Boise and they had to do a research of accidents at that intersection. When the report finally came out it stated that a light would not be considered until 2011. After months of going back and forth with the Dept of Hwy and telling them about all the signatures, concerns and how dangerous that intersection is etc they told me because of budgeting, order of importance and gov't red tape that it would be 2009. At that time it seemed like forever but here it is already and they are finally doing it.
