JV Tigers win 1st tournament game against Bishop Kelly

The Mountain Home Tiger JV boys basketball team opened the District III 4A JV Boys Basketball Tourney with a win Saturday.

The Tigers went in the District III 4A JVBoys Basketball Tournament as the number four seed and beat fifth-seeded Bishop Kelly 68-58 in overtime.

Mountain Home came out strong and led 16-11 after a quarter, but the Knights scored 21 points in the second quarter to take a 32-26 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Tigers whittled the deficit down to two, 42-40, heading into the fourth quarter, and when the buzzer sounded ending the fourth quarter the score was knotted at 51-51.

Mountain Home took the lead in overtime and never looked back, beating the Knights 68-58.

Four Tigers scored in double figures, led by Cody Ramos with 16. Alex Kellogg had 15, Brock Morris netted 13 and Anthony Castillo added 10. Josh Foale scored seven, Aaron Hobbs six and Damian Soliz one.

The win put the Tigers in one semi-final on Monday against top-seeded Middleton. Kuna and Skyview squared off in the other semi-final. The championship game is this evening at 7 p.m. following the district sophomore championship game, both at Emmett.

Earlier in the week, the Tiger JV closed out its regular season schedule with a win.

The Mountain Home Tigers went on a 20-0 run in the first half to pull away for 61-37 JV win over Emmett last Tuesday night in boys basketball in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium in Mountain Home.

The Tigers held Emmett to just five fourth quarter points as they pulled away for a 61-37 win.

Alex Kellogg and Anthony Castillo led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points apiece. Cody Ramos added nine, Josh Foale, Aaron Hobbs and Brock Morris each netted eight points, Damian Soliz six and James Simon scored two points.
