Tigers beat Columbia, lose to Kuna

The Mountain Home Tigers managed a split of their JV boys basketball games last week, losing at home to Kuna and winning on the road at Columbia.

The Tigers fell behind early, and were never able to make a comeback, as they lost to Kuna 51-39 last Tuesday night in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium in Mountain Home.

A basket by Aaron Hobbs with 4:58 left in the first quarter gave Mountain Home a 3-2 lead. It would be their only lead of the game as Kuna went on an 11-2 run to lead 13-5 after a quarter.

Mountain Home got within three, 13-10, early in the second quarter, but fell back by 10, 22-10, at halftime.

The Tigers fell behind by 17 points in the third quarter and trailed 39-24 heading into the fourth. They managed to cut the deficit to 10, 39-29, early in the fourth, but fell behind by 49-31 with 2:45 left. The Tigers finished the game on an 8-2 run to make it a 51-39 final.

Aaron Hobbs and Cody Ramos both scored 10 points to lead the Mountain Home scoring. Brock Morris added seven, Drew Hopkins five, James Simon four and Tom Hennessey had three points.

Tigers 50

Wildcats 34

Mountain Home shot out to a 9-0 lead Friday night at Columbia and never looked back as they downed the Wildcats 50-34 in conference JV basketball.

On the strength of its 9-0 start, Mountain Home led 11-3 after a quarter and took a 20-9 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Columbia cut the Tiger lead to six, 33-27, heading into the final quarter, but a 15-4 run in the fourth helped Mountain Home extend its lead, as they won 50-34.

Alex Kellogg saw his first action of the season and led the Mountain Home effort with 16 points. Aaron Hobbs netted 14 and Brock Morris added 10. Cody Ramos scored five, Anthony Castillo added four and James Simon scored one point.
