JV boys pick up two wins

The Mountain Home Tigers JV boys basketball team won two conference games last week.

Knights 40

The Mountain Home Tigers rallied in the fourth quarter to beat Bishop Kelly 42-40 last Tuesday night in JV boys basketball in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium in Mountain Home.

Cody Ramos scored six of his 10 points in the first quarter as the Tigers grabbed the lead and led 14-10 after a quarter. Mountain Home built their lead to seven early in the second quarter, but the Knights battled back to within two, 21-19, at the half.

Bishop Kelly took the lead in the third quarter and built up a five-point lead before the Tigers battled back within two, 31-29, heading into the fourth.

Damian Soliz came up with a steal and lay-up to give the Tigers the lead, 38-37, with 1:41 left in the game. Another steal and lay-up by Soliz pushed it to 40-37 with 1:18 left.

David Bitrick sank two free throws with nine seconds left to make it 42-37, Tigers. Bishop Kelly hit a three at the buzzer to make it a 42-40 final.

Anthony Castillo, Cody Ramos and Damian Soliz each scored 10 points for the Tigers. David Bitrick added five, Aaron Hobbs had four, Drew Hopkins scored two and James Simon, one.

Emmett 23

The Tigers came out strong from the get-go, and rolled to an easy 58-23 conference win over Emmett Friday night at Emmett.

Mountain Home shot out to a 13-3 first quarter lead and stretched it to 35-10 at the half. It was 48-21 Mountain Home, after three.

Emmett's only basket in the fourth quarter came with 1:10 left as the Tigers rolled 58-23.

Aaron Hobbs and Cody Ramos both scored 12 points to lead the Tigers. Jordan Warila added nine, Damian Soliz seven, James Simon six, David Bitrick five, Drew Hopkins four and Anthony Castillo three.
