Pull over for lights, sirens

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

Area emergency services first responders have expressed concern recently that far too many people are not paying attention to their lights and sirens.

As they rush to help people in desperate need, too many people recently have failed to pull over, to clear the way for those trying to get to the scene of an accident, fire or medical emergency as quickly as possible.

It's not only the law that says you have to clear the road for them, it's just good sense and the right thing to do. Every second they waste waiting for someone to get out of the way potentially risks the life of a person who needs help immediately.

So when you see those lights and sirens (and please pay enough attention to your driving to do so), pull over.

Give them a clear and safe path on their way to saving lives.
