JV Tigers beat Columbia, lose to Skyview

The Mountain Home Tigers JV boys basketball team split their games last week, losing a close one at Skyview and winning at home against Columbia.

The Tigers had their win streak snapped at Skyview last Tuesday night, coming up short to the Hawks, 46-41 in JV boys basketball.

Mountain Home trailed 13-7 after a quarter and battled back to tie the game at 17-17 on a basket by Tyler Wright, with 54 seconds left in the half, but Skyview scored right before the buzzer to lead at halftime, 19-17.

Mountain Home went 4:20 of the third quarter before scoring, during which the Hawks went on an 11-0 run to go up on the Tigers, 30-17. A 9-1 run by the Tigers brought them back to within five, 31-26, heading into the fourth quarter.

The Tigers were able to get within four, at 35-31, on a three by Damian Soliz with 6:27 left, but could get no closer, losing 46-41.

Brock Morris led the Tigers in scoring with nine points, Aaron Hobbs and Cody Ramos both added six points, Anthony Castillo and Damian Soliz each had five, David Bitrick scored four, and Tom Hennessey, Jordan Warila and Tyler Wright each had two points.

The Tigers returned to the win column Thursday night, downing Columbia 44-34 in Mountain Home.

The Tigers jumped out to a 5-0 lead and led 9-6 after a quarter. They fell behind, 14-13, with 2:36 left in the first half, but went on a 9-0 run to end the half up 22-14.

Two quick baskets by Aaron Hobbs in the third quarter put the lead at 12, and the Tiger lead the rest of the night varied from eight to 12 points.

Mountain Home led 34-24 after three, and matched baskets in the fourth for a 44-34 win.

Cody Ramos had a season-high 15 points, Aaron Hobbs had eight, Tom Hennessey, six, James Simon five, Anthony Castillo and Damian Soliz had three points, and Drew Hopkins and David Bitrick scored two.
