A 10-year-old Mountain Home girl was killed Sunday afternoon when she fell off her bicycle into the path of a motorcyclist, was struck, and later died at a Boise hospital.

The accident occurred at approximately 5:36 p.m. on NW Bradford Ave.

According to the Elmore County Sheriff's Office, after the girl fell off her bike she was struck by a motorcycle being driven by a 14-year-old male, who had been following behind her.

The girl was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m. that night after being taken to a Boise area hospital.

No further details were immediately available. Neither the girl nor the driver of the motorcycle were identified.

The investigation by the Elmore County Sheriff's Office is continuing.

  • Our prayers go out to her family. She was a beautiful little girl, so full of life & happiness. School won't be the same without her, nor will church.

  • How terrible. One, if not two, families are devastated.

  • My heart goes out to the little girl's family. We will miss her terribly at school. I also pray for the young man and his family. I truly hope that this was an accident and not the cause of carlessness.

  • My children have grown up here so I know that they will be affected by this tragedy. My first thought was for their grief and any mother would know how hard that is. After a second of that thought, I cried for the child's family; screamed to God about the sadness of the outcome of a teenager's mistake. And we all know that immaturity causes teenagers to make mistakes. Fortunately, most of them make it to adulthood without the mistakes of their youth being devastating. This is the pain I feel inside. Knowing that this young teen will have to live with the outcome, the guilt and the unbelievable pain. I pray to God for him and his family and friends. I pray that they will surround him with strength and love, vowing to give him the attention that he will need to forgive himself. He will be hurting and their response will determine what his future will be. That is an enormous task but the life of this child is now in their hands. As for the devastated family of this little girl, I pray for the support that they need to work through their grief and that one day, they will complete that process by offering the grace of forgiveness. My thoughts and deeply felt prayers will be for all of them.

  • My son has been so upset all day...she was like a sister to him, he says. I asked him if he wanted to write her a letter & he didn't understand how that would work. I told him she was in Heaven, looking down on him, & she could read it. So, he wrote:

"Dear _____, I'm sorry what haped to you. And it wasn't your falt and I miss you. I've been crying and crying that's how mutch I miss you.

    Love, _____"

He wanted me to put that on here to "make sure she saw it." If her family reads this, I hope it comforts them to know how much she was loved & how many lives she touched. It made him feel a little better to know that she knows how he feels.

  • My heartfelt prayers and condolences go out the entire family following their enormous loss. I 'know' that losing a child is perhaps the hardest pain that a parent can endure.

I also pray for forgiveness of the young man involved in this tragic incident. May he find a way to pay it forward.

  • My Boyfriend was there with his best friend when it happened. He told me He was watching the steelers game when he went outside. An a little boy was holding the girl asking if anyone knew where her home was. My man and his friend were the ones who called the whole thing into the police. The last couple of days have been rough I think the worst part was seeing ourselves on the news. My man was so upset as soon as the news were over he went straight outside and cried for a good half hour. I send my prayers to both families. An I pray for Elsa who used her childrens blankets to try and keep the little girl warm. Prayers go out to anyone who knew her.
