Lost couple found unharmed in mountains
Two Boise residents were found early Tuesday afternoon after they had been reported early Tuesday morning to have been missing in the mountains.
Tiffany Kiramidjian, 25, and Greg Stenton, 26, had left Boise in their Jeep CJF Monday afternoon to drive to Atlanta along the Middle Fork Boise Road. They were planning on visiting relatives.
When they arrived at Twin Springs about 4 p.m. that night they were told the road was closed, but apparently decided to continue on, anyway. Both were reported to have plenty of blankets, food, water and winter clothing.
The pair became trapped between two avalanches along the road and broke into a nearby cabin to stay warm over the night.
Elmore County deputies and Search and Rescue crews were notified and began a search.
The couple were found safe and unharmed by Atlanta Highway District crews plowing the road Tuesday.
The avalanche danger in the mountains is considered to be high at this point "and probably will stay that way until the snow sets up" and stablizes, according to Jim Noland, head of the Elmore County Search and Rescue Unit.
