Lady Tigers lost two close games

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers JV basketball squad saw two games get away from them last week in close conference losses to Nampa and Kuna.

Nampa 32

Mtn. Home 27

The Lady Tigers went scoreless in overtime Tuesday night as Nampa came back to beat Mountain Home 32-27 in conference JV basketball in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.

Mountain Home managed a 6-4 lead after a quarter, but trailed 14-11 at the half.

The Lady Tigers took a 21-19 lead into the fourth quarter, had several chances to win in regulation, but Nampa battled back to tie the game at 27-27 and force overtime.

The extra four minutes were unkind to the Lady Tigers, who went scoreless and lost to Nampa, 32-27.

Jessica Liercke led the Lady Tigers with seven points, Amanda Osborn and Arlene Futch both added six. Fatima Guillen, Lindsay Sessions, Trista Stepp and Keesha Janis each scored two points.

Kuna 37

A second half comeback by Mountain Home came up short Friday night at Kuna as the Lady Tigers dropped a 37-28 conference JV basketball game to Kuna.

Kuna came out shooting well, and shot out to a 17-4 lead after one, and a 30-13 lead at halftime.

Mountain Home rallied in the second half, and held Kuna to just one point in the third period as they cut the Kuna lead to 31-22 heading into the fourth quarter. The Lady Tigers managed to whittle the lead down to three points, 31-28, with 3:02 left, but Kuna hit four of four free throws down the stretch to hold on for the win, 37-28.

Trista Stepp led the Mountain Home scoring with nine points, Arlene Futch added seven, Jessica Liercke, six, Keesha Janis, four, and Amanda Osborn, two.
