Sisters win state judo medals

Sisters Taylin and Alexah Carbajal both placed first at the 41st Idaho State University Tokai Judo Tournament on Nov. 15.

Taylin won the six-year-old, 45 pound division and ten-year old Alexah won the 65 pound weight division in the nine and ten-year-old age division.

Both girls went undefeated at the tournament.

Taylin won her first match by forfeit then knocked out her next two opponents in the opening seconds of the match.

Alexah pinned her three opponents in route to the championship.

The girls are coached by their father, Chris.

The tournament was Taylin's third and her second win. She finished second in the tournament she didn't win and owns a 7-2 record.

Alexah is 17-5 in competition with five gold medals and a bronze one to show for it.

The win qualifies the girls fro the Junior Olympics, to be held in an undetermined location.
