U11 soccer team finishes second to end season

The Mountain Home Youth Soccer Associations' U11 Girls team took second place in the Ruby Division of the Gem State Challenge last weekend.

They played two games on Saturday, winning the first against Sawtooth United Navy 5-0 and the second against Twin Falls 2-1, giving them the first-place position for their bracket.

"The girls played really well throughout the day, and there were some really great long shots at the goal and several near misses for goal," coaches said. The first game's goals were credited to: Christa Lewis (1), with an assist from Clarissa Lucas; Anna Pedroza (2), with an assist from Clarissa Lucas; Elizabeth Ryan (1), with an assist from Kelsey Hedrick, and Clarissa Lucas (1).

Additional shots at the goal were credited to Christa Lewis (3), Anna Pedroza (4), Hannah Bideganeta (5), Kelsey Hedrick (1), Elizabeth Ryan (1), and Tamara DeLange (1).

In game two Twin Falls got the first goal against the Mountain Home team, but Mountain Home came back quickly as Christa Lewis hit the back of the net with a high kick over the goalie's head. The assist was credited to Macey Holland. Soon after, Holland kicked one into the goal following an assist by Anna Pedroza.

The girls had an additional 12 attempts at the goal credited to Hannah Bideganeta (3), Anna Pedroza (3) Kelsey Hedrick (3), Andrea Garcia (2), and Christa Lewis (1).

Goalie Andrea Garcia was credited with five saves.

The first game on Sunday for Mountain Home was against the Pocatello Pumas Blue, who shut them out 4-0. Christa Lewis had two attempts at the goal, Madison McCloud had one, Alexah Carbajal had one and Macey Holland had one.

Goalie Andrea Garcia was credited with four saves, and goalie Jennifer Navarro was credited with 6 saves.

The final game for the championship was a disappointing loss again to the Pocatello Pumas Blue team 5-0.

Andrea Garcia was credited with seven goal saves and Jennifer Navarro was credited with six saves.

There were five attempts by Mountain Home at the goal, two by Anna Pedroza, two by Madison McCloud and one by Alexah Carbajal.

The game resulted in their earning second place in the division.
