With their backs against the wall after opening the District III 4A Girls Soccer Tournament with a loss to Columbia, the Mountain Home Lady Tigers won two straight games before losing to Columbia again in an overtime shootout in the third-place game with a berth in the State 4A Girls Soccer Tournament in Caldwell on the line.

Nampa 0

Mountain Home went up against Nampa last Monday in their first consolation bracket game, and took care of a stubborn winless Nampa team that probably played their best game of the season, 2-0.

Francesca Hale and Jessica Tindall scored goals for Mountain Home. Erica Castro had an assist.

Nampa had just one shot to the net, which was saved by goalkeeper Alicen Wendall.

Erika Castro scored in overtime to help lift Mountain Home past Kuna last Wednesday at Bishop Kelly as the Lady Tigers downed Kuna in overtime 2-1.

Shianna Hawley scored Mountain Home's first goal. Kristie Sigloh and Jessica Tindall both had assists. Angie Rios has five saves on goal as goalkeeper.

The win kept the Lady Tigers' season alive and put them against Columbia for third place and the final State 4A Tournament berth.

(Shootout)

Mountain Home and Columbia went into last Thursday's game 1-1-1 in three previous meetings. Regulation and two overtime periods could not decide it, so it came down to a shoot out and Columbia came up one better, winning 3-2 to advance to state.
