After battling a tough Bishop Kelly squad to a 1-1 tie earlier in the week, the Mountain Home Tigers boys soccer team closed out their regular season with a win over Emmett, and then opened the district tourney with an overtime win over Columbia.

The Mountain Home Tigers battled the Bishop Kelly Knights to a 1-1 tie last Monday at Bishop Kelly.

Logan Whitney scored the Mountain Home goal.

"The kids really played great! That's probably the best game they've played the whole year!" said Tiger boys soccer coach Paul Walsh. "We held them scoreless first half, but they ended up scoring on a PK (penalty kick) about the middle of the second half to tie it up. The guys did really great and played as a team and had some incredible passing going on.."

Emmett 0

The Tigers celebrated Senior Night with a 4-0 shutout of the Emmett Huskies last Wednesday night at Eastside Park.

Danny Snelgrow had two goals and an assist, Shawn O'Neill and Greg Walsh had goals, Francisco Dominguez, Lucas Marsh and David Walters had assists.

Christian Figueroa had seven saves on goal in the shutout.

"The guys really played well," said Tiger boys soccer coach Paul Walsh after the win. "It's a great way to send the seniors out, and it was a really big win for us. It was really nice to see all the guys come together, and we had guys scoring that haven't done that, so it was good to see our offense pick up again."

Columbia 1

(overtime)

The Tigers opened the District III 4A Boys Soccer Tournament at Kuna Saturday with a 2-1 overtime win over Columbia.

After a scoreless first half, Dominique Torres scored early in the second period. Columbia scored late in the second half to force overtime.

Danny Snelgrow scored the winning goal about five minutes into the overtime period off an assist by Greg Walsh.

Christian Figueroa had 11 saves on goal as goalkeeper.

"We've played Columbia tough all year," said Walsh. "We've got three wins against them, but they really played well today. Our guys never let down. I was really afraid that we'd get in that overtime and give up a cheap goal, but they battled real hard and kept their composure and they did a fantastic job."

The win improved the Tigers to 6-6-5 on the season. They took on Skyview in the semi-finals yesterday (Tuesday) at Kuna. Skyview opened the tourney with a 6-1 win over Emmett.
