JV football team beats Nampa 13-0

The Mountain Home Tigers JV football team scored touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters and held off drives by Nampa to down the Bulldog JV 13-0 last Thursday night at Tiger Field in Mountain Home.

The first half ended in a scoreless tie. The Tigers turned the ball over twice in the first half on fumbles. The second time was at the Nampa three-yard line to kill a drive.

Mountain Home finally managed to score in the third quarter after an earlier red zone possession in the quarter came up empty.

After Cody Ramos intercepted a Nampa pass and returned it to the Bulldog 10-yard line for a first and goal, Anthony Castillo was sacked back at the 20. A holding penalty brought it back to the 24. On fourth down from the 12, Arthur Castillo passed to Julio Cantu in the back of the end zone for the score. Castillo's PAT made it 7-0, Tigers, with 38 seconds left in the third quarter.

The Tigers intercepted three Nampa passes in the fourth quarter to kill drives, and Mountain Home added another touchdown late in the fourth quarter on a four-yard run by Colton Zamora, as the Tigers won 13-0.

The Tigers rushed for 264 yards, led by Colton Zamora with 171 yards on 26 carries. Curtis Jackson had 71 yards rushing on 11 rushes, and Anthony Castillo and Enrique Varela both had 11 yards rushing.

Anthony Castillo completed five of 12 passes for 80 yards. Jordan Warila caught one pass for 26 yards, Cody Ramos had one catch for 20 yards, Julio Cantu had a catch for 12 yards and a touchdown, and Enrique Varela and Curtis Jackson both had 11 yard catches.

The win improved the Tigers to 4-2 on the season. They travel to Skyview Thursday night to face the Skyview JV at 7 p.m.
