JV soccer team wins districts, finishes season 11-1

The Mountain Home High School JV team beat Nampa 1-0 in the second period of overtime to win the JV District Tournament Saturday without giving up a single point in the tournament.

Mert Baysal scored the winning goal five minutes into the overtime period. Goalie Tomas Guillen had 16 saves during regulation to hold the Bulldogs scoreless.

The Tigers beat Columbia 3-0 in the semifinals after receiving a first round bye as the tournament's number one seed. Casey Pehlke, Oscar Guevara and Robert Pack scored goals while Tyson Gibbons recorded an assist. Goalies Tomas Guillen and Gerado Salinas kept Columbia from scoring with five and two saves, respectfully.

The shutouts were the third in a row for the Tigers, including their 3-0 win against Bishop Kelly to end the reular season.

During that game, Ben Cumber, Robert Pack, with an assist from Cumber, and Zack Ireland, with an assist by Eloy Guadarrama, scored goals.

The Tigers finished the season 11-1.
