Boys soccer ties Kuna, shuts out Nampa

The Mountain Home Tigers battled to a tie and picked up a shutout win last week in conference boys soccer.

Kuna scored on a penalty kick late in the game to force a 1-1 tie with Mountain Home last Monday at Kuna.

Danny Snelgrow scored Mountain Home's goal on an assist by Logan Whitney.

Christian Figueroa and Fernando Salas combined for eight saves on goal for Mountain Home.

"We didn't really get it all together, but the kids played pretty good," said Tiger boys soccer coach Paul Walsh. "Kuna just never gave up. We probably should have won that one.."

The Tigers came away from Nampa last Wednesday with a 3-0 shutout win over the Bulldogs.

Greg Walsh scored on a PK for Mountain Home, Logan Whitney scored on an assist from Danny Snelgrow, and David Walters scored off an assist by Jordan Condon.

Christian Figueroa had 10 saves on goal to get the shutout.

"The kids really came together and had one of their best games they've played this year," said Coach Walsh.

"They were positive, and all of the things as coach that as a coach we're looking for, they did it, and Christian Figueroa had a huge game for us."

The Tigers took a 4-6-4 record into the last week of the regular season. They played at Bishop Kelly on Monday, and close out their regular season for Senior Night today at Eastside Park against Emmett.

The District II 4A Tournament starts Saturday at Kuna.
