The Mountain Home Tigers competed at the Gary Ward Invitational Cross Country Meet in Nampa last Thursday. The Mountain Home girls came in seventh, the boys 12th at the meet held at Lakeview Park in Nampa.

Haley Schaefer led the Mountain Home girls with a time of 21:20, which placed her 14th.

Jordan Vivier set a new PR with a 21:36, which placed her 17th. Kacee Cameron also had her best time ever with a 22:57. Ashley Mayberry also bettered her previous best time with 23:59, McKenzie Dorr had her best time of 25:05, Tiana Svetkovich ran a 25:55 and Jennica Quintal ran a 28:48.

Joe Gutierrez led the Tiger boys with a 19:13, which placed him 47th. Dylan Johnson ran a 19:51, Gavin Cline came in at 19:55, Petr Kucem set a new PR with a 20:08 and Taylor Croft ran a 20:48.

Stephen Bush led the Tiger boys in the JV meet, running a new PR with a 21:00, Chris Austin ran a 21:34, and Aaron Menheart had a new PR with 23:29.

Tiger cross country coach Doug Root was pleased with the efforts by his runners at the meet.

"The kids ran really, really well. We had a lot of PRs set. I was real pleased with our third and fourth girls, they picked up their pace, and our third girl, Jordan Vivier improved her PR for the season by about 40 seconds, which is going to move us into a lot better shape come district time.

"The boys ran well. We still left a couple of our varsity kids at home because they've got classes and stuff they couldn't miss, but we competed real well over there. I'm real pleased with the results."

The Tigers go to Jerome for a meet tomorrow (Thursday). Coach Root is looking forward to the meet.

"The course is right in town. It's a course we did real well at last year. It's where Haley Schaefer ran her PR last year, and it's still her best PR, so we're looking for good things there. We'll be competing against Jerome and a couple other schools we'll need to run against for ranking in state, so I'm looking forward to the meet."
