JV Tigers shred Columbia 42-6

The Mountain Home Tigers JV football team evened their season record at 2-2 with a 42-6 win over the Columbia Wildcats JV last Thursday night at Tiger Field in Mountain Home.

Anthony Castillo put the Tigers on the scoreboard in the first quarter, going five yards for a touchdown. Mountain Home led 7-0 after a quarter.

Mountain Home built up a 27-6 lead at halftime.

Anthony Castillo scored on a 16-yard run, Curtis Jackson took it in for a score from seven yards out, and Colton Zamora scored from three yards out.

Colton Zamora added another touchdown in the third quarter, scoring from four yards out, and Enrique Varela capped off the night's scoring with a 35-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter as the Tigers won 42-6.

The Tigers rushed for 232 yards. Colton Zamora rushed the ball 12 times for 73 yards, Anthony Castillo had 63 yards on 12 rushes. Enrique Varela had three carries for 39 yards, Curtis Jackson carried seven times for 30 yards, Brock Morris had nine rushes for 20 yards, and Julio Cantu carried once for seven yards.

Brock Morris completed four of 12 passes for 49 yards. Jordan Warila had two catches for 29 yards and Anthony Castillo had two catches for 20 yards.

Colton Zamora led the Tigers defensively, getting in on 10 tackles,and he had one pass deflection. Brock Morris had eight tackles and a pass interception, Deion Brown was in on seven tackles and had half a sack, Drew Hopkins had six tackles, Jordan Warila, five tackles and a pass deflection, Tyler Wright and Castillo both had four tackles, Wright had half a sack and a fumble recovery, Cody Ramos and Curtis Jackson both got in on three tackles, Ramos had an interception, Cody Staebler, Alex Luna and Joe Russell each had two, Ty McRae, Jonathon Casper, Julio Cantu, Joe Brown, Eric Massey and Clint Farmer all had one tackle, Casper had a sack, a fumble recovery and a blocked kick.

The win improved the Tigers to 2-2 on the season. They host Bishop Kelly tonight (Wednesday) at 7 p.m. at Tiger Field.
