Shae Burns hired as fair manager

Wednesday, September 17, 2008

The Elmore County Fair and Rodeo Board has announced they have hired a new fair manager, Shae Burns.

Burns will taking over the duties as fair manager from Kate Ackerson, effective Oct. 1. Burns has been working as the assistant fair manager for the past 12 months, "which has helped her gain an extensive knowledge about how to coordinate the annual county fair," the fair board said in a prepared statement.

"Burns helped with the organization and running of the 2008 fair and she spearheaded many innovative ideas," said Ackerson, current manager of the Elmore County Fair and Rodeo Board. "She will be a great asset to the fair board."

Ackerson made the decision to not renew her contract with the fair board because she is moving in March 2009 to South Dakota.

The Elmore County Fair and Rodeo Board also has "run into a bit of quandary," Ackerson said. "We do not have anyone to coordinate and run the Junior Rodeo that is held annually at the Elmore County Fairgrounds. We are looking for knowledgeable people with rodeo experience to volunteer their time and help us in coordinating the event, or we will not be able to see the joy that the Junior Rodeo brings to the kids and their parents every year.

"We would hate for this timeless tradition to be cancelled for the 2009 Fair," she said, "however this is a strong possibility if we cannot find a devoted member of the community to aid us in this endeavor."
