JV soccer off to 5-0 start

The Mountain Home High School JV soccer team has started the season 5-0.

"Soccer is a team sport and the team has potential," first year coach Jay Lockett said before the season started. "We have a lot of returning players and we will see if they will come together to work as a team."

With the team's record at 5-0, it appears the team has come together to reach their potential.

The Tigers opened the season with a 2-1 victory at Skyview on Aug. 25. Tyson Gibbons and Zack Ireland scored in the team's come from behind win.

The team's next game was at Columbia on Aug. 27. With four Tigers scoring, Jalen Gibbons, Ben Cumber, Ireland and Brent Sexauer, the team won 4-2.

The Tigers posted a shut out in their third road game of the season in route to a 1-0 victory over Middleton on Sept. 2 on Blake Pachner's lone goal.

The Tigers won their home opener over against Nampa 2-1 on Sept. 9. Gibbons and Robert Pack''s goals were all the offense the team needed for the win.

Mert Baysal scored a hat trick (3 goals) and Casey Pehlke scored a goal to beat Bishop Kelly at home on Sept. 11 4-2.

The Tigers will play Skyview again on Sept. 17.
