Reader ask why can't pool be in new high school?

Wednesday, September 10, 2008

Dear editor:

Mountain Home has two proposals that could be combined to save money and benefit the community.

Why not include an indoor swimming pool in the plans for the new high school? It would provide a year-round opportunity for exercise and recreation for the entire community.

Many other schools in our country have indoor swimming pools that are used both by the students for PE classes, and by the rest of the community during non-school hours.

It would give our students the opportunity to participate in swim meets and competitions, could be open for lap-swims in the mornings and evenings, would provide a location for year-round swim lessons and physical therapy, and of course, be open for recreational swimming on the weekends.
