Leona Jones, 95, of Glenns Ferry, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at a local care center.

A graveside service was held on Friday, Aug. 29, at Glenn Rest Cemetery in Glenns Ferry.

Leona was born on May 12, 1913, in Waldport, Ore., the daughter of Louis and Opal Wiedman.

She married Forrest "Timber" Jones. In 1940, Leona and Timber moved to Glenns Ferry, where Timber worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. In 1941, their twin girls, Nancy and Linda, were born.

Leona was a fulltime homemaker. She was active in Guiding Star Rebekahs Lodge #4, the Lady Fireman Lodge, and in later years at the Three Island Senior Center.

Leona and Timber enjoyed many years of traveling, after their retirement, with their railroad friends.

Leona is survived by: her daughters, Nancy Montgomery of Glenns Ferry and Linda and her husband, Ernest Smisek, of Mountain Home; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and one brother.
