Cross country team opens season

The Mountain Home Tigers cross country teams were at the Jimmy Driskell Invitational Cross Country meet at Bishop Kelly last Saturday where the girls finished sixth, the boys ninth.

Bishop Kelly won the girls competition with a team score of 40, Mountain View was second with 61, Centennial and Eagle both had 80, followed by Meridian with 123, and Mountain Home, 130.

Haley Schaefer led Mountain Home with a time of 21:41. Alicia Crandall ran a 21:57, Jordan Vivier ran a career best 22:13, Jessi Cameron ran a 25:42, Ashley Mayberry, 25:55, Kacee Cameron, 26:02, Jennica Quintal, 26:58, and Tiana Svetkovich, 29:30.

In J.V. girls competition, McKenzie Dorr ran a 27:13, and Ashley Sasaki came in with a 29:26.

Central Catholic of Oregon won the boys competition with a team score of 47, just two points ahead of Mountain View. Eagle was third with 75, followed by Bishop Kelly, 110, Centennial, 138, Weiser, 153, Rocky Mountain, 163, Meridian, 194, and Mountain Home, 225.

Joe Gutierrez led the Mountain Home boys, running an 18:55, which placed him 32nd.

Dylan Johnson had the next best time for the Tigers, running a 19:59, just ahead of Gavin Cline, whose 20:02 was a career best. Garrett Wood came in with a 20:16, James Simon, 20:28, Colby Hall, 20:57, and Andrew Martin, 21:46.

In the boys JV competition, Nick Reynolds led Mountain Home with a 20:05, which placed him 22nd. Robby Pack ran a 20:20, Deryk Barr, 20:51, Taylor Croft, 21:02, Stephen Bush, 21:49, Chris Austin, 22:00, and Nick McClaine, 30:41.

The Tigers have two meets this week, going to Caldwell for the Caldwell Invitational on Thursday, and the Jackrabbit Invitational at Vale, Oregon on Saturday.
