Bikers say thanks for help

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

Dear Editor:

Last week eight Canadian motorcyclists were travelling through your town when the only Harley among us developed engine trouble. (It seems you can't refuel with diesel, even by mistake). Local senior, Ernie, abandoned his ice cream treat and came to our rescue with information and equipment.

Before long, Yamaha mechanic Mike and his assistant arrived after completing a full day's work at their shop and got the bike cleaned out and running amid much kidding about 'foreign' versus American-made motorcycles. Keeping the bikers' code to "never leave one bike behind" they soon had us on our way to our destination.

Many thanks to these local fellows for their kindness and humor.
