Registration for school to begin soon

Wednesday, July 30, 2008

The main registration for the Mountain Home School District will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 13, but some pre-registration and orientation sessions for students new to the district will be held Aug. 7.

All registration activities will be held in each school.

Registration will be held Aug. 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Base Primary, East Elementary, North Elementary and West Elementary schools. Students entering kindergarten in those schools must be age 5 on or before Sept. 1.

Mountain Home Junior High School and Hacker Middle School also will register students Aug. 13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Registration for Mountain Home High School students who are returning to the district also will be held that day. Seniors will register from 8-10 a.m., juniors from 10 a.m. to noon, and sophomores from 1-3 p.m.

The first day of school will be Monday, August 25.

All information concerning school registration, a list of school supplies, bus routes and reduced lunch information may be obtained at the schools during registration or from the school district's website at: http:\\www.mtnhomesd.org.

Pre-registration and orientation sessions for Hacker Middle School, Mountain Home High School and Mountain Home Junior High School students who are new to the district will be held Thursday, Aug. 7.

Pre-registration and orientation for new district students will be held at Hacker Middle School from 8 a.m. to noon that day.

Mountain Home Junior High School will hold its new student program for 8th-grade students from 8-10 a.m. and for 9th-grade students from 10 a.m. to noon that day.

Mountain Home High School will host a student orientation session for new district students beginning at 1 p.m. on Aug. 7. Information will include bell schedules, school calendar, course descriptions, and general school guidelines (behavior, attendance and dress). Other information will be included as requested.

An appointment will be scheduled at the conclusion of the session to complete the paperwork required for enrollment; transcript evaluation, and course placement. Verification of immunization records and two forms of identification must be presented at that time.

Attendance at one of the orientation sessions will speed the registration process. New students and their parents are being encouraged to attend. Parents will need to bring school records, birth certificates and shot records.

Idaho law requires that proof of immunization against certain childhood diseases be presented for children in kindergarten through twelfth grade, before attendance. Children who are not in compliance must be excluded from classes.

The Idaho Immunization Law requires that children be up to date on their immunizations (shots): +5 doses of DTAP, +3 doses of Polio, +2 doses MMR, +3 doses of Hepatitis B, or to have a valid medical, religious or personal exemption form on file. An exemption is not valid if the parent has merely forgotten their child immunization record.

Any questions should be directed to your child's school: East Elementary School (587-2575); Hacker Middle School (587-2500); Mountain Home AFB Primary School (832-4651); Mountain Home High School (587-2570); Mountain Home Junior High School (587-2590); North Elementary School (587-2585); West Elementary School (587-2595).

  • Mountain Home High School will also be hosting a Freshman and New Student Orientation on August 15th from 8:30am - 1:00pm at the Mountain Home Junior High Gym. An ice cream social will follow the orientation.

This orientation is a great introduction to our 70 Link Leaders (upper classmen) who will shadow these students throughout the year to make sure that their first year of high school or their first year at MHHS is fun and successful. For more information about this orientation, you can call MHHS at 587-2570 or Janet Waggoner at 580-5526.
