Children's Health Fair Saturday

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

The Annual Children's Health Fair, hosted by Elmore Medical Center, will be held Saturday, July 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hacker Middle School, 550 E. Jackson St.

The Children's Health Fair provides parents and children with an opportunity to learn about health-related services and businesses available in Elmore County and the surrounding communities. The event is free to the public and will feature more than 20 service agencies, businesses and health providers.

Changes for this year include a new sports physical voucher program.

Students in 7th to 12th grade, who are planning to participate in school sports programs, are eligible to receive a free sports physical voucher from Trinity Mountain Medical Clinic.

Vouchers will only be available at the Children's Health Fair. One voucher will be presented per person. All children wishing to receive a free physical voucher must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Physicals will be provided at Trinity Mountain Medical Clinic. Voucher recipients will need to call the clinic to make an appointment. Vouchers will be valid from July 21- Aug. 22 and must be redeemed during regular clinic hours.

The new voucher program will allow physicians to provide physicals to more participants within the comfort of the clinic setting. Voucher recipients do not need to be current patients at Trinity Mountain Medical Clinic and will not be asked to change their primary care provider to receive a free physical through this program.

The Elmore Medical Center Education department organizes the Children's Health Fair as a community service. Participating businesses collaborate in this effort to provide the latest information available regarding children's health and wellness.

Door prizes provided by area businesses will be awarded throughout the event including a chance to win one of 25 backpacks. The Elmore Medical Center Auxiliary volunteers will serve free healthy snacks and refreshments.

"Bringing area health services agencies and businesses together in one place makes it easier for busy families to get the information they need to keep their families happy and healthy" said EMC Education Manager, Anna Hissong.
