City prepares to celebrate Fourth of July

The El-Wyhee Business Association will sponsor a Fourth of July Festival Friday in Carl Miller Park to celebrate the 232nd birthday of the United States.

The festival will start with breakfast at 8 a.m. The breakfast of "Pioneer pancakes," scrambled eggs and coffee or milk will be served all day.

There will be free entertainment all day long for children and adults.

The Little Miss El-Wyhee Pageant, for girls ages 4-8, also will be held. To sign up call Wendy at 832-4963 or 580-5435.

The Mountain Home High School Cheerleaders, will perform on stage.

"Curley Surles and The Common People," along with other local artists and bands will play music throughout the day.

Demonstrations will be performed by The Four Wheel Drive Club and The National Guard.

A Burnout Demonstration will also be conducted. Anyone that wants to enter their vehicle should call Bill Bamber at 599-0008.

A number of vendor booths also will be set up in the park. Those who would like to participate in the festival should call 587-5372.

There will be a raffle for $50 Fuel Cards. Six drawings will be held throughout the day.

There will be a large tent displaying a Museum Exhibit from Mountain Home Historical Society.

The Wash and Shine Car Show will be held featuring classics cars, street rods, muscle cars, 4x4s, motorcycles, low riders, imports, or any new or old vehicles. Call Bill at 599-0008 for more information.

A large free kids area with inflatable toys such as a giant slide, bounce house, bungee run and a tot area will be set up. Volunteers are needed to help in that area. To help call Teri at 599-0906.

There will be free hot dogs offered with a donation to the Ronald McDonald House, along with other foods, and drinks. The association needs people to donate pies. Call Sue at 599-2686.

The Mountain Home Fire Department will suspend its large Silver Wings American flag over American Legion Boulevard from the fire department's ladder truck.

Also planned this year is an Art in the Park display. Any artist that would like their work included should contact Patty at 587-2777.
