Dopps rodeo set for June 27-28

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

The 3rd Annual Daniel Dopps Memorial Dodge PRCA Rodeo will be on June 27-8 at Optimist Park in Mountain Home.

Pre-rodeo events start at 7 p.m. The rodeo starts at 7:30 p.m.

"With the price of fuel this year, we are hoping that attendance will be up from last year, as families are looking for entertainment close to home," said organizer Ramona Dobbs. The rodeo is named after her son, a local rodeo star who was killed four years ago in the arena.

"As a memorial rodeo, the purpose of this rodeo is to raise money for charitable donations within the community of Mountain Home, Elmore County and the State of Idaho," Dobbs said. "On an annual basis, the Rodeo Committee will determine the amounts of the donations based on the proceeds generated by ticket sales and sponsorships from that years' rodeo.

"We have been able to make donations in part because of the great sponsorship support and from the tickets sales."

Slash T Pro Rodeo Company will provide the stock and the announcing duties will be handled by Scott Allen. J.D. Platt and his high-flying Frisbee dogs will be performing this year. There will also be a pre-show performance at Mountain Home Auto Ranch (time and date TBA).

Rodeo tickets are now on sale at Mountain Home Auto Ranch, Sinclair Sunset C and D & B Supply.
