Relay for Life changes venue

Relay For Life has announced a change in venue for the 5th Annual event which will be held Friday/Saturday, June 27-28.

This year's event will take place at Eastside Park on South 14th East Street, utilizing the track at that location, rather than the Tiger Field track at the junior high.

Event organizers said they are are "excited with the change because this will enable the event to take on a more unified, community feel, incorporating the spirit of Relay For Life."

Any cancer survivors or caregivers are being asked to contact the survivorship chairs, Ruby Closson at 599-2830 or at Cece Bracy 587-9510. Survivors and caregivers will be honored at the event on June 27.

Donations to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life can be made at any Pioneer Federal Credit Union or by mailing a check directly to: American Cancer Society, 2676 Vista Avenue, Boise, ID 83705. Make sure to mark it for Elmore County Relay For Life.

Raffle tickets also are being sold for a drawing to be held on June 28, at the closing ceremony at 7 a.m. The grand prize is a handmade survivor's quilt. First prize is a Korey Hall autographed football and bobble head in a display case, with additional prizes available. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and may be purchased at Pioneer FCU, from team captains or at the event.
