Tiger JV beats Middleton twice

The Mountain Home Tigers junior varsity baseball team took two games from Middleton last week.

Mountain Home pounded out 13 hits in a 17-6 JV win over Middleton at home last Thursday. A five-run sixth ended the game in the sixth inning by the 10-run rule.

Chris Maholick and Tom Hennessey both had three hits and four RBIs, Maholick had a home run and triple, Hennessey had a triple. Trevor Woodruff had two hits and an RBI, Logan Monasterio had a two-run home run, David Bitrick had a hit and two RBIs, Jon McCabe had a hit and RBI, and Shawn Lewis and Kevin Anderson also had a hit.

Devan Wilkinson picked up the win, with relief help from Anthony Castillo in the sixth.

"Devan Wilkinson pitched a great game," said Tiger JV baseball coach Matt Bundy. "He threw well into the sixth inning and Anthony Castillo camein for the save. Logan Monasterio and Chris Maholick provided the crowd with some entertainment when they blasted shots over the red barn in left field."

The Tigers battled back from an early 4-2 deficit to beat Middleton 8-4 Friday at Middleton.

"David Bitrick came up with a huge two-out single in the fifth to tie the score, and Ronny Young had a crucial two-out double in the sixth to push us into the lead," said coach Bundy. "Jon McCabe threw hard for five innings, and Tom Hennessey threw two great innings of relief to secure the win."

David Bitrick led a 14-hit attack with three hits and two RBIs. Shawn Lewis, Logan Monasterio and Ronny Young each had two hits, Lewis knocked in three runs, Monasterio and Young each had one RBI. Trevor Woodruff had a hit and three RBIs, Tom Hennessey, David Rhodes, Devan Wilkinson and Kevin Anderson also had hits.

The win improved the Tigers to 9-7 overall, and 7-5 in league play.

Mountain Home played at Nampa yesterday and closes out its regular season schedule at home today against Nampa. The District JV Tournament starts Saturday.
