Senior citizen likes school bond, says everyone needs auditorium facility

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

Dear editor:

I am a senior citizen with no children attending school, and I am going to vote for the school bond.

I have been a substitute teacher at the high school and I see a need for a bigger, more modern facility.

But more importantly, as a patron of the arts, I see a need for a performing facility. I have attended school choir concerts and performances arranged by the Arts Council in the high school gym and I feel these high-quality performances would be enhanced by a nicer venue with a proper stage and comfortable graduated seating where everyone has a good view. We need an auditorium and we should not miss this opportunity to have one.

Mountain Home AFB brings to our city a cosmopolitan group of people, many of whom will elect to settle in Mountain Home when their tours of duty are over. We have many senior citizens, like myself, who enjoy the cultural events in Mountain Home and I feel that we need an auditorium, a venue worthy of the art, drama, comedy, music and beauty which we all need for the enrichment of our lives.

I urge all voters who value the performing arts to VOTE YES FOR THE SCHOOL BOND!
