Senior Center is great

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

Dear editor:

When words are not enough.

My wife and I moved up here three years ago in May. I graduated from here in 1959 so Mountain Home was not new to me. My stepfather was ill with a terminal disease and my two brothers and their families had been caring for Jim and we wanted to get involved because my mother was quite overwhelmed at times.

We went down to the senior center and talked with Ruthada and she told us about all the wonderful things the seniors had to offer.

Patty and JoAnn signed Jim up for the Meals on Wheels program and believe me it was the highlight of Jim's day when his meal arrived. It took so much pressure off all of us, especially my mother. As I said, words are not enough to express our thanks and gratitude to all the wonderful seniors who loved and supported us at our greatest time of need. We've had the privilege to volunteer at times and assist in whatever way we're able.

Thanks again to Ruthada, Patty and Joann and the wonderful group who assist in the kitchen and all those great volunteers who make the center run.

We've come to think of many of them as family, Lydia, Charlie, Alice, Pat, Fietch and Maggie, we love you and thanks again for all you have done for us.
