Mountain Home did well in a home track meet Friday at Tiger Field, as the boys tied for first and the girls finished second at the four-team track meet.

For the Mountain Home girls, it was their first time not winning a meet, as they finished a close second behind Bishop Kelly. The Lady Knights won it with 90 points, Mountain Home had 86, Emmett was third with 85.5, and Columbia had 10.5 points.

Emily Moranda once again dominated the hurdles, winning both the 100-meter high hurdles and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles. She also was a member of the winning 4x100-meter relay team, which also had Francesca Hale, Sherica Holmon and Jessica Liercke on it, and the second place 4x400-meter relay team, which included Kristie Sigloh, Lauren Moore and Francesca Hale.

Jessica Liercke also won the triple jump, took second in the 100-meter dash and was a member, along with Angelica Rios, Sherica Holmon and Lauren Moore, of the 800-meter sprint medley relay team that finished second.

Kristie Sigloh also had a first in the long jump, was a member of the 4x200-meter relay team (along with Angelica Rios, Lauren Moore and Chelsea Bacon) that finished second, and had a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash.

Jasmyn Jewett had second place efforts in the high jump and triple jump. Haley Schaefer finished second in the 3200-meter run, third in the 800, and fifth in the 1600-meter run.

Francesca Hale came in second in the 100-meter high hurdles.

Angelica Rios had a third-place effort in the 200 dash and fourth place in the 100-meter dash, beside her seconds in the two relays.

Shelby Posey finished third in both the shot put and discus.

Jordan Vivier tied for third in the pole vault and was fifth in the 3200-meter run.

Sherica Holmon had a third-place effort in the 100-meter dash, and Tanya McKenzie tied for fifth in the high jump.

Mountain Home tied with Columbia for first place in the boys competition, both picking up 86 points. Bishop Kelly was third with 50, Emmett finished with 48 points.

The Tiger boys had nine first-place efforts on the day.

Jacob Viola won the 100-meter dash, was a member of the 4x100-meter relay team (along with Nick Barrie, Talon Pauly and Jesse Donez) and the 4x200-meter relay team (along with Tallon Pauly, Kyle Kerfoot and Nick Barrie), both of which finished first, and he also finished fourth in the discus throw.

Garrett Wood won the 300-meter hurdles and pole vault, was second in the triple jump and was a member of the 4x400-meter relay team (along with Ricardo De la Cruz, DeVonte McClain and Mathew Bernyk) that finished second.

Jesse Donez won the 200-meter dash and was second in the 100. Tyree Harmon won the 110-meter high hurdles and was fourth in the long jump.

Billy Derome won the discus throw and was fifth in the shot put.

Mountain Home's other first place was in the 1600-meter sprint medley relay, which was made up of Tallon Pauly, Kyle Kerfoot, Gavin Cline and Mathew Bernyk. Bernyk also finished third in the 400-meter dash.

Stefen White came in second in the 110-meter high hurdles and was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles. Ricardo De la Cruz finished third in the 300-meter hurdles, Marco Pavicevic finished fourth in the high jump, and Zach Wegrzyniak finished fifth in the discus throw.

Mountain Home Tiger head track coach Rich Urquidi was especially pleased with his boys' efforts.

"The boys stepped up and won the meet. We had some great efforts from the guys. Garrett Wood PR'd in the pole vault, 12' 6", that's a great jump for him, and first time ever running the 300 hurdles and he ended up winning that, and ran a leg in the 4x400 relay, so he had a great meet.

"Billy Derome threw very well in the shot and the discus and scored some points, and our sprinters did well, so yeah, our boys stepped up.

"Our girls got second place, a little disappointing, but Fran (Hale) fell in the (300-meter) hurdles, which she would have probably (finished in) second place and that's four points right there, and that's the difference in the meet basically, so again, our girls are just improving every week, and same as our boys, so the coaches are all real pleased."

Coach Urquidi indicated part of the squad will go to Timberline in Boise on Thursday for a JV meet with Meridian and Timberline, while the rest of the squad goes to the Bandana Team Invitational at Mountain View on Friday and Saturday.

"We're taking about 18-20 kids to the 5A-4A Bandana meet, which is kind of our conference meet, with prelims on Friday night and Saturday's the finals.

"That's going to be a tough meet -- that's almost like a state meet for us, so it's some big competition to kind of see where we are and hopefully get some good times, and I'm sure we'll place a few kids and bring home some medals.

"The JV meet is probably where the bulk of our team will go, and we're looking for good things there, too."
