Please, no frills on school bond

Wednesday, April 9, 2008

Dear editor:

I read your sincere message several times today. It is the truth. But as in most things in life, there may be more than one truth at the same time.

For me the truth that makes the most sense to me, in spite of wanting good things for the youth of our community, is that unless the school board trims to the bone what they propose to do, now or in the future, I just can't vote for it. What's necessary, really necessary, and what is ordered by the state, then yes. But no frills, please. Our sons knew we could afford jeans and tennis shoes, just not the expensive, "fashionable" ones. They survived just fine. I believe we all need to look at things sensibly at this time all over our country. And I would attend a public forum on the proposed school bond if I knew how to find out when and where it would be held.
