Talkin' Tigers to send 14 to state speech

Fourteen members of the Mountain Home High School Talkin' Tigers Speech and Debate team, headed by captains Eli Holland and Ali Howe, qualified to compete at the state speech tournament following last Saturday's district speech tournament at Bishop Kelly High School.

The state speech tournament will be held April 18-19 at Minico High School.

Holland qualified for state speech in Retold Story for the second consecutive year. Last year he finished second in the state. At district, Holland finished second.

Teammates Alycia Crandall and T.J. Billinger will join Holland in Retold Story.

Howe was third in panel Discussion at district and will be joined by teammate Jenna Thompson at state.

Also qualifying for state speech for the second consecutive year was Raif Armstrong. The sophomore will compete in Radio Speaking.

Tim Roemer continued his successful season as he easily qualified in Expository Speaking. Patty Wade also qualified for State in Expository.

Freshman Yrsa Moe and Chase Bennett qualified for state with their Duo Interpretation -- "The History Of Television." Megan Gregory and Shelby Stevens qualified as alternates in Duo Interpretation. Devin Floyd, competing for the first time this year as a junior, was second at district in Dramatic Interpretation and qualified for state. Travis Goldsby qualified as an alternate in Impromptu Speaking.
