Man who robbed local liquor store pleads guilty to charges

Wednesday, April 9, 2008

Dominique Ramirez, the man involved in the Jan. 28, 2008, incident where he allegedly stole a Smith & Wesson .44-caliber handgun from Airman Pawn and then used the gun (empty, with the price tag sticking out) to rob the state liquor store in Mountain Home before waiting to be arrested by the Mountain Home Police Department, was arraigned on Monday in district court.

Ramirez entered pleas of guilty to counts of robbery and grand theft. Judge Mike Wetherell gave Ramirez a line of questioning confirming that Ramirez's pleas were voluntary and to assure the fact that he committed a crime.

Wetherell went over that with Ramirez, explaining that by pleading guilty to both counts, he could be facing a total of 24 years in prison and fines up to $55,000. Judge Wetherell then accepted Ramirez's pleas and the request made by Sutton to reduce his bond to $20,000. As condition of the bond Ramirez must keep his appointments with psychiatrist Dr. Roger Olsen while free on bail. Wetherell scheduled his sentencing for June 16 at 1:30 p.m.

  • I think that people that are leaving rude comments should get a life. People do things for different reasons and only they know why the do the things they do. Only God can judge us. I have met this young man that have true respect for people and himself. Don't judge him!

  • I taught Dom. I have talked to some of his friends here at the high school. They said that he was thinking that if he went to jail it would help him draw closer to God.
