Area cops are some of the best around

Wednesday, April 2, 2008

Dear editor:

"Everyone is afraid of the Police" is about the worst article I have seen written in 60 years. It is nothing but speculation pure and simple.

Mr. Thirion gives his opinion, which is not accurate, about a very fine police force. Some of his statements are slanderous and downright mean.

I have had several dealings with our local police on many levels and they have always been extremely professional and respectful. I have never seen them mistreat anyone.

They do defend and protect the Mountain Home Community. All of us should be thanking God every day we have these ladies and gentlemen out there holding the line for us. The amount of money they get paid to put their life on the line every day is not enough.

No one said they are perfect. They do make mistakes, but usually the mistake is very small and not intentional. It is extremely difficult to please all the people all the time, but these very fine officers seem to accomplish just that about 99.9% of the time.

The slanderous statements made by Mr Thirion such as "Children are terrified of the Police," "Grandmothers are afraid of the Police," etc., etc. That is about as low as one can go.

Our children in this community are not terrified of the police. Our grandmothers are not afraid of the police. More than likely, it's the other way around. Evidently Mr. Thirion hasn't met some of the grandmothers I have.

I personally think we have one of the best policed communities, county and city, in Idaho.

I am extremely proud of all our law enforcements agencies and I want them to know I thank them everyday for the job they do.

God Bless all our officers, county and city.

Larry Heinen
