Girls score another victory for MHHS track squad

The Mountain Home Tiger girls track squad won its second straight triangular track meet Thursday, edging Middleton, with Nampa a distant third, at Nampa.

The Mountain Home girls picked up 10 first-place finishes and nine seconds to edge past Middleton 92-89 in team points. Nampa was a distant third with just five points.

Haley Schaefer was a triple winner for Mountain Home, winning the 800-, 1600- and 3200-meter runs. She was also a member of the 4x400-meter relay team (along with Kristie Sigloh, Emily Moranda and Francesca Hale) that came in second.

Emily Moranda won both hurdle events, and was a member (along with Francesca Hale, Sherica Holmon and Jessica Liercke) of the 4x100-meter relay team that finished first.

Sherica Holmon won the 100-meter dash, and besides the 4x100, was also a member of the medley relay team (along with Angie Rios, Lauren Moore and Jessica Liercke) that took first.

Jasmyn Jewett won the triple jump and took second in the high jump.

Shelby Posey won the shot put and placed second in the discus.

Francesca Hale had second-place efforts in the two hurdle events.

Jessica Liercke had a second in the triple jump and third in the 100-meter dash. Kristie Sigloh was second in the 400, and Jordan Vivier finished second in the 1600.

Chelsea Snoey finished third in the shot put and fourth in the discus.

Jesse Cavanagh was fourth in the 400, Victoria Pack was fourth in the 100-meter high hurdles, Alisha Caldwell was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles, and Trista Stepp was fourth in the shot put.

Middleton won the boys competition with 79 points. Nampa was second with 58.5 and Mountain Home third with 48.5 points.

Stefen White won the 110-meter high hurdles, was a member of the winning 4x200-meter relay (along with Jacob Viola, Tallon Pauley and Nick Barrie), was a member of the medley relay (along with Kyle Kerfoot, Gavin Cline and Mathew Bernyk) team that finished second, and also finished third in the long jump.

Garret Wood won the pole vault and was a member of the 4x400-meter relay (along with Ricardo De la Cruz, Jacob Allies and Mathew Bernyk) team that finished second.

Tyree Harmon had the Tigers' other first, winning the long jump.

Mathew Bernyk finished second in the 400, and the Tigers' 4x100-meter relay team of Jacob Viola, Kyle Kerfoot, Tallon Pauley and Nick Barrie came in second.

Billy Derome finished third in both the shot put and discus. Tallon Pauley had a third in the 200-meter dash and tied for fourth in the 100.

Nick Barrie was third in the triple jump, Ricardo De la Cruz was third in the 300-meter hurdles, and Marco Pavicevic was third in the high jump.

DeVonte McClain was fourth in the 400, Jesus Juarez came in fourth in the 3200-meter run, and Jake Filipovich was fourth in the discus.

The Tigers take this week off for spring break, but return to action on April 4 when they host Columbia, Emmett and Bishop Kelly for a meet at Tiger Field.
