The Mountain Home Tiger junior varsity baseball team came away with a split of their games last week, losing at Timberline, but winning at home against Skyview.

The Tiger JV opened their baseball season last Tuesday afternoon at Timberline and lost to the Wolves, 17-7, in five innings.

The Tigers led, 4-1, after three innings, but Timberline erupted for nine runs in the fourth, and added seven more in the fifth to end the game by the 10-run rule.

Tom Hennessey and Shawn Lewis both had two hits, Hennessey had an RBI. Trevor Woodruff had a hit and three RBIs, and Chris Maholick had a hit and RBI. Kevin Anderson and David Bitrick also had hits, and Logan Monasterio had an RBI.

"John McCabe threw three great innings," said Tiger JV baseball coach Matt Bundy. "We were a little short on pitching this early in the season but as the kids' arms get stronger, that problem should be overcome."

Skyview 5

The Tigers hosted Skyview in their conference opener Thursday afternoon and 10-runned the Hawks, 15-5, in five innings.

An eight-run third inning for the Tigers put the game out of reach as they evened up their season record at 1-1.

David Bitrick had two hits and two RBIs, Logan Monasterio and Tom Hennessey both had a hit and two RBIs. John McCabe, Kevin Anderson and Robert Vanderpool each had a hit and RBI, Shawn Lewis had a hit, and Ronny Young had an RBI.

Trevor Woodruff went the distance for the win.

"It was a good game!" said Coach Bundy. "Trevor Woodruff pitched a complete game and looked sharp after a rough start in the first inning. He only threw a little over 60 pitches in getting his first win of the season."
