MHHS band students honored

Five Mountain Home High School music students participated in the biennial Idaho Music Educator's All-State Music Conference in Pocatello this past week, Jan. 23-26.

The music conference brings together the top music students from all over the state every other year to use their talents in the honor ensembles.

This year Heidi Peck, flute in the high school band, played in the orchestra. Ava Carlos and Daniel Beck, vocal students in the high school choirs, sang in the mixed choir; Mona Hansen and Shannon Pollard, also high school choir students, sang in the treble choir.

"To be chosen for these groups is a great honor," said band director Jerry Tippets. "These young men and women represent the 'cream of the crop' in the state of Idaho."

Each of the 400-plus students from around the state went through a rigorous audition process to make the performing groups.
