Marcus Egusquiza

Marcus Egusquiza won the Elks District Hoop Shoot competition held in Nampa on Saturday, Jan. 26.

He now advances to the state level in Kellogg, Idaho, on Feb. 9 .

A third-grade student from North Elementary, he had won the local event to go forward to represent Mountain Home for the boys 8-9 year old category. After competing against boys from Boise, Nampa, Caldwell and Snake River lodges he won at the district level, shooting 19 out of 25 baskets.

Hoop Shoot Chairman Larry Fincher said "he was very excited to be able to advance with one of our local youth. They all work so hard to get to these levels and I could not be prouder."

Fincher also congratulated "Kyla, Elizabeth, Gabriel, Jackie and Adam for their efforts this past weekend. As far as I'm concerned they are all winners in my book."
