JV girls split week's conference games

The Mountain Home Lady Tiger junior varsity basketball team had to settle for a split of their conference games last week.

Skyview 23, O.T.

In a game that saw neither team shoot that well, Mountain Home battled back to force overtime, and then win, 28-23, over Skyview in overtime, at Skyview Thursday night in girls JV conference basketball.

Mountain Home led, 8-2, after a quarter, and 10-7, at the half. It was 16-13, Mountain Home after three.

Skyview went on a 7-0 run to go up 20-16, and led, 22-18, with 3:38 left in the ball game. Brenda Hawkins and Charde` Huntington both scored baskets to tie the game at 22-22, and both teams missed opportunities to go ahead from there, as the score was tied, 22-22, at the end of regulation.

Mountain Home outscored Skyview 6-1 in overtime to get the win, 28-23.

Brenda Hawkins led the Lady Tigers in scoring with seven points, Charde` Huntington had six, Breann Christiansen, five, Jasmyn Jewett, four, Kelsie Hopkins, Bre Sugden and Annika Moody each had two points.

Bishop Kelly 53

Mountain Home trailed all the way against Bishop Kelly Saturday afternoon, as they lost to the Lady Knights, 53-39, in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.

Mountain Home fell behind early, and trailed, 14-8, after a quarter. The Lady Tigers fell behind by 10 in the second quarter, but Blas Lord sparked a comeback that brought them within four, 24-20, at halftime.

A 7-0 run by Bishop Kelly to start the third period made it 31-20, but the Lady Tigers battled back within five, 35-30, after three.

Mountain Home did not score a point in the fourth quarter until Charde` Huntington hit a free throw with 3:29 left. By then Bishop Kelly had stretched their lead to 49-31. Huntington also scored Mountain Home's first field goal in the quarter with 2:50 left to make it 51-35.

The final score was 53-39, Bishop Kelly.

Charde` Huntington led Mountain Home in scoring with 13 points, Blas Lord had nine, Jasmyn Jewett, eight, Brenda Hawkins, six, Annika Moody, two, and Bre Sugden had one point.
