2008 black history poster contest set

Wednesday, January 16, 2008

The Mountain Home Community Black History Committee will be celebrating its 19th Anniversary this year, and is again sponsoring a 2008 Poster/Art and Essay contest as part of its educational program, held in conjunction with the upcoming Black History Banquet.

The theme of this year's contest is "Carter G. Woodson and the Origins of Multi-culturalism."

The poster/art or essay may honor any Black American of choice and may or may not reflect the 2008 theme. All entries will be judged on originality and neatness. Participants may ask teachers, parents, family members, or friends to assist with the project.

Completed poster/art and essays are to be submitted to the public library or the participant's school principal's office before Feb. 10.

All participants will receive a certificate of appreciation, and cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place for poster/art and essays categories at the Ninetieth Annual Black History Banquet, on Feb. 15, at American Legion Post #26's War Memorial Hall, 515 E. 2nd South in Mountain Home.

Complimentary meals will be provided for the contest winners only.

For further information call 587-3227.
