Soph girls lose one, but beat Nampa

The Mountain Home Lady Tiger sophomores saw their undefeated season go by the wayside at Middleton last Thursday night, but bounced back to beat Nampa on Saturday.

In a battle of unbeaten teams, the Mountain Home Lady Tiger sophomores suffered their first loss of the season Thursday night at Middleton, losing to the Lady Viking sophomores, 52-28.

Mountain Home was bothered by Middleton's press right from the start, and fell behind, 12-0, and scored their first basket of the game with 3:28 left in the first quarter. Middleton led, 19-5, after a quarter, built up a 34-12 lead at halftime, and led, 46-21, heading into the fourth quarter .

Mountain Home had a 6-0 run to start the fourth quarter, but fell way short, 52-28.

Alex Schmidt led the Lady Tiger sophomores with 13 points. Amanda Osborn and Rachel Warila both scored five, Jennica Quintal added three, and Brittany Wagner scored two points.

Mtn. Home 43

Nampa 31

The Lady Tigers sophomores led from start to finish against Nampa Saturday night, downing the Lady Bulldogs, 43-31, in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium in Mountain Home.

Mountain Home shot out to a 12-5 lead after a quarter, and led, 22-13, at the half. The two teams traded baskets in the third period, with Mountain Home up, 32-23, heading into the fourth.

The Lady Tigers built up a 16-point lead in the final quarter, and won, 43-31.

Rachel Warila and Alex Schmidt both scored in double figures for Mountain Home, Warila had 14, Schmidt, 10. Lindsay Sessions added nine points, Amanda Osborn had seven, Brittany Wagner, two, and Jennica Quintal, one.

The win improved the Lady Tiger sophomores to 10-1 overall, and 7-1 in league play.

The Lady Tiger sophomores were at Kuna last night, host Columbia Friday night, and play at Jerome Saturday at 11 a.m.
