Lady Tiger JV squad falls to Nampa and Middleton to open the new year

The Mountain Home Lady Tiger junior varsity basketball squad had a rough start to the new year last week, losing to Middleton and Nampa.

Middleton's press got to Mountain Home in the second quarter, as the Lady Vikings exploded for 21 points to shoot out to a 36-21 lead at the half.

Mountain Home trailed, 51-23, heading into the fourth quarter, and had their best point production in the final quarter when they scored 15 points to make it a 63-38 final.

Charde` Huntington led Mountain Home in scoring with a season high 19 points. Jasmyn Jewett added six points, Ashley Christiansen scored four, Kelsie Hopkins, Blas Lord, Annika Moody and Bre Sugden all scored two points, and Breann Christiansen had one.

Nampa 43

Baskets were hard to come by for the Lady Tigers Saturday night against Nampa, as they lost to the Lady Bulldog JV 43-20 in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium in Mountain Home.

Blas Lord hit a trey to bring Mountain Home within three, 8-5, with 4:05 left in the first quarter. The Lady Tigers would not score another field goal until late in the third quarter when Breann Christiansen scored with 1:32 remaining in the quarter -- 18:33 without a field goal.

Nampa led, 14-7, after a quarter, 23-11, at half-time, and it was 30-13, Nampa, after three.

Breann Christiansen, Ashley Christiansen and Jasmyn Jewett all scored four points for Mountain Home. Blas Lord, splitting time between the JV and varsity, scored three points, Brenda Hawkins had two, Kelsie Hopkins, Charde` Huntington and Bre Sugden each scored one point.

The Lady Tigers were at Kuna last night, host Columbia on Friday night, and travel to Jerome Saturday for a 12:30 p.m. game against the Jerome JV.
