Booys JV team drops games to Jerome, Skyview

Like their varsity counterparts, the Mountain Home Tiger junior varsity boys basketball team fell to both Jerome and Skyview last week.

The Mountain Home squad went over nine and a half minutes without scoring in the second half at Jerome Friday night, and a fourth-quarter rally ended up a bit short, as they lost 48-43 in non-conference boys basketball.

The game went back and forth in the first half, with Mountain Home up 14-13 after a quarter, and Jerome hitting two free throws as the half ended to take a 25-24 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Mountain Home took their final lead of the game with 5:13 left in the third quarter, when Logan Monasterio scored and hit a free throw to put the Tigers up 31-30.

Mountain Home would not score again until Monasterio again hit a basket and free throw with 3:35 left in the ball game -- 9:38 without scoring -- and Jerome led, 48-34.

Mountain Home would hold Jerome scoreless over the final 4:30 of the game, and battled back to make it a 48-43 final.

Logan Monasterio led Mountain Home with 12 points, Josh Foale and Gabe Anderson both hit 10. Danny Snelgrow added nine, and Jared Sexauer scored two.

Skyview JV 51

The Mountain Home Tigers fell behind in overtime, and lost to Skyview, 51-50, in junior varsity boys basketball action Friday night in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium in Mountain Home.

Mountain Home led 10-5 after a quarter and built up a 19-9 lead midway through the second period, but Skyview went on an 11-0 run to take the lead, 20-19, with 1:09 left in the half.

A trey by Danny Snelgrow ended the Skyview run, and helped the Tigers to a 23-20 halftime lead.

Both teams had problems scoring in the third quarter, with Mountain Home leading 30-25 heading into the final quarter.

Skyview cut the lead to one early in the fourth, with Mountain Home maintaining the lead until Skyview hit a trey with two seconds left to tie the game at 43-43, forcing overtime.

Skyview hit the first basket of overtime, and the best the Tigers could do was tie the game at 45-45. Skyview then went up, 50-45, with 22 seconds left.

Gabe Anderson drained a three with 1.2 seconds left to bring the Tigers back within one, 51-50, but the game ended with Mountain Home coming away a point short.

Danny Snelgrow led the Tigers with 20 points, Gabe Anderson added 11. Logan Monasterio chipped in eight points, Jared Sexauer, five, Chris Austin, three, Daniel Bideganeta, two, and Dallin Dean, one.

The Tigers play at Bishop Kelly Thursday night and are home against Emmett on Saturday night.
